A Journey of Reflection, Mindfulness, and Understanding
Welcome to Art of Inner Peace.
My name is Raksmey Koy, and I created this website as a place to share my reflections, experiences, meditation practice, Dhamma learning, and thoughts about the journey of understanding life.
I do not consider myself someone who has found all the answers.
I am still learning.
I am still observing.
I am still making mistakes.
I am still discovering.
And that is one of the reasons I created this space—to share the lessons that arise along the journey.
Why I Created Art of Inner Peace
Life has taught me many lessons through both peaceful and difficult experiences.
Some lessons came through success.
Others came through disappointment.
Some came through relationships.
Others came through mistakes, responsibilities, challenges, and moments when I had to look honestly at myself.
Over time, I began to understand that many of the most important battles in life do not happen outside us.
They happen within the mind.
We may experience anger, fear, resentment, attachment, disappointment, jealousy, anxiety, or confusion.
Sometimes we try to change the outside world without first understanding what is happening inside ourselves.
This realization encouraged me to look inward.
I began asking myself:
Why do I react this way?
What creates my emotions?
How do my thoughts influence my actions?
How do my actions influence my relationships?
Can I learn to respond more wisely instead of reacting immediately?
These questions became part of my personal journey.
My Meditation Journey
Meditation has become an important part of my life.
I have been practicing Vipassana Meditation for several years.
My practice has not always been consistent.
There have been periods when I practiced less regularly, became distracted, or allowed daily responsibilities to take priority.
But gradually, I returned to the practice with greater commitment.
Through observing the natural breath and sensations within the body, I have learned the importance of awareness and equanimity.
One of the most valuable lessons has been learning to pause before reacting.
A difficult situation may still arise.
A negative emotion may still appear.
But awareness can create a small space between the experience and the response.
That small space can become an opportunity for wisdom.
Learning Dhamma
Alongside meditation, I have continued learning about Buddhist teachings, including Abhidhamma and Mettā Bhāvanā (Loving-Kindness Meditation).
For me, learning Dhamma is not simply about collecting knowledge.
The deeper question is:
How can these teachings be understood through our own experience and applied to everyday life?
A teaching becomes more meaningful when it influences how we speak, how we treat others, how we respond to difficulties, and how we understand ourselves.
Reflection as a Way of Learning
Many of the articles on this website come from ordinary experiences.
A conversation.
A disagreement.
A difficult emotion.
A peaceful morning.
A meditation session.
A lesson from nature.
A relationship.
A mistake.
A moment of awareness.
These experiences may appear small, but they can contain valuable lessons when we take the time to observe them.
This is why I write Morning Reflections, Afternoon Reflections, and Evening Reflections.
Writing allows me to slow down and examine an experience more carefully.
It also allows me to share that learning with others who may have experienced something similar.
My Approach to Inner Peace
I do not believe that inner peace means having a life without problems.
Problems are part of human life.
People change.
Circumstances change.
Our bodies change.
Relationships change.
Success and failure come and go.
Pleasure and difficulty come and go.
Inner peace, as I understand it, is not the permanent absence of difficult experiences.
It is the gradual development of awareness, understanding, and equanimity when those experiences arise.
We may not always control what happens.
But through practice, we can gradually become more aware of how we respond.
The Elements of Nature
I am also the author of The Elements of Nature: The Art of Living Well.
The book explores the connection between nature, the human mind, thoughts, emotions, actions, relationships, habits, and the invisible forces that influence our lives.
Nature provides many lessons.
The wind cannot be seen, yet we can feel its movement.
A seed is small, yet it contains the potential for a tree.
Water continuously changes according to its conditions.
These observations can become metaphors for understanding human life.
The book is part of my continuing journey of reflection and self-understanding.

A Shared Journey
Every person has a different story.
Our childhoods are different.
Our families are different.
Our cultures are different.
Our experiences are different.
Yet beneath these differences, we share many aspects of being human.
We experience happiness.
We experience suffering.
We seek security.
We form relationships.
We experience loss.
We make mistakes.
We learn.
We change.
And we continue searching for a meaningful way to live.
Perhaps our individual experiences can become useful lessons when we are willing to reflect upon them.
My Intention
My intention in creating Art of Inner Peace is simple:
To share what I learn.
To encourage reflection.
To promote mindfulness.
To explore Dhamma through everyday experience.
To encourage compassion.
And to remind myself and others that understanding ourselves is an important part of understanding life.
I hope that something you read here may become useful to you.
Perhaps one reflection will help you see an experience differently.
Perhaps one quote will give you encouragement.
Perhaps a meditation article will inspire you to begin practicing.
Or perhaps you will simply spend a few quiet moments here.
That is enough.
Thank You for Visiting
Thank you for visiting Art of Inner Peace and taking a few moments to explore this journey with me.
I welcome you to read, reflect, question, observe, and discover your own understanding.
We do not need to agree on everything.
We can simply learn from one another.
Because life itself is a continuous teacher.
May reflection bring understanding.
May understanding bring wisdom.
May wisdom guide our actions.
May compassion guide our relationships.
And may peace begin within.
Welcome to Art of Inner Peace.
Let us learn, reflect, and grow together.
